A luxury-grade firm upholstery foam — 39 kg/m³ density, 200 Newton firmness, Crib 5 fire rated, cut in the UK. A denser, longer-lasting alternative to our 33H at a similar firm feel.
The step up from our 33H: slightly firmer at 200N, and denser at 39 kg/m³, which means it holds its shape longer under the same use. Suited to high-quality seating and to boat, caravan and campervan cushions where the foam gets heavy repeated use.

Questions about this foam
What is the difference between this and the 33H?
Both are firm blue foams and feel similar to sit on — 200N versus 190N. The real difference is density: 39 kg/m³ versus 33 kg/m³. More material means it resists compression set and holds its shape for longer under the same use. If the cushion gets heavy daily use, the 39H is the better long-term buy.
Is a caravan seat that doubles as a bed a problem?
It is a genuine conflict, yes. Foam firm enough to sit on all day can feel very firm to lie on, because lying spreads your weight over a much larger area. A common solution is a laminated cushion: a firm foam for the lower two-thirds and a softer foam or a memory foam layer on top. Call us and we can talk it through.
What does Crib 5 mean?
Crib 5 is BS 5852 Ignition Source 5 — the UK furniture fire test required for contract and commercial seating. It is a different standard from Class 0, which is a building regulations rating for walls and ceilings, not furniture. Note that BS 5852 is a composite test: certification applies to the foam and cover fabric together, so the finished cushion’s compliance also depends on the fabric you use with it.
