Caravan, Motorhome & Campervan Foam

Replacement foam for caravan, motorhome and campervan cushions, cut to order in our UK factory. All grades here are firm, high density and Crib 5 fire rated.

The seat-by-day, bed-by-night problem

This is the thing that makes caravan foam genuinely harder to specify than sofa foam, and it is worth understanding before you order.

A cushion that is firm enough to sit on comfortably all day will often feel too firm to sleep on — because when you sit, your weight is concentrated through a small area, and when you lie down, the same weight is spread over a much larger one. The same foam does two different jobs and cannot be optimal at both.

The usual solution is a laminated cushion: a firm, high density foam for the lower two-thirds to carry the sitting load, with a softer foam or a memory foam layer bonded on top for sleeping comfort. If you tell us the dimensions and how the cushion is used, we can talk it through with you.

Which grade?

Grade Density Firmness Best for
33H 33 kg/m³ 190N — hard Occasional and seasonal use
39H 39 kg/m³ 200N — hard Regular use — denser, holds its shape longer
42H 42 kg/m³ 240N — hard Full-time or long-term use. Our firmest and densest

Density is the number that decides how long the cushion lasts. In a van used every weekend, the denser grade is the one that will still be holding its shape in five years.

A note on memory foam in a cold van

Memory foam is thermo-sensitive — it softens as it warms to body temperature. In an unheated van in winter, it will feel noticeably firmer for the first few minutes. It is still a good comfort layer, but it is worth knowing before you fit it.
