A viscoelastic (memory) foam sheet — 50 kg/m³ density, soft 55 Newton firmness, Crib 5 fire rated, cut in the UK. Supplied as a 150 x 200cm sheet in thicknesses from 1" to 4".
Memory foam softens in response to body heat, moulds to your shape, then recovers slowly. It is normally used as a comfort layer on top of a firmer support foam rather than on its own. A common build is a 3"–4" firm support foam with a 1"–2" memory layer on top: the support foam holds you up, the memory foam relieves pressure points.

What memory foam is for
- Mattress toppers — the most common use. 2" is typical; 1" adds a light comfort layer.
- Pressure relief — why it is widely used in medical and care settings.
- Cushion and pillow comfort layers, on top of a firmer foam.
- Caravan and campervan bed cushions, as a top layer over firm support foam.
Questions about this foam
Can I use memory foam on its own for a seat or mattress?
Not usually recommended. Memory foam is a comfort layer, not a support layer. Used alone at a normal cushion thickness it will let you sink through to the base, because it does not provide structural support. Pair it with a firm support foam underneath.
Why is it soft at 55N but also the densest foam you sell?
Because density and firmness measure different things. At 50 kg/m³ this is one of our densest foams — which is why it is durable and feels substantial. Its 55N rating means it yields easily under pressure. Density predicts lifespan; firmness predicts feel. They move independently.
Why does memory foam feel firmer in a cold room?
It is thermo-sensitive by design. It softens as it warms to body temperature, so it can feel noticeably firmer for the first minute or two in a cold room, then softer once you have been lying on it. This is normal and is worth knowing if you are fitting out an unheated caravan or campervan.
